Textus Receptus

The Textus Receptus True Or Not?

A question was raised on the Apostolic Forum about whether or not the Textus Receptus (TR) had been tampered with. Several wrote responses and the most vehement supporter of the TR claimed that God providently* keep the text pure while in the hands of the Catholic Church. Not to do so, he alleged, would have been tantamount to God not being able to preserve his own Word. In other words, ...God would have failed at being God, if he did not or could not keep it pure. Of all the responses, the one below in orange type, written by Brother Joe Gaut, was the most remarkable and profound. I concur with it 100%.

First it grieves me that so called men of God would plant doubt that God is not able to keep his word. To say that the New Testament has been changed is to say God was not able to keep a record of the true events as they took place with the Apostles.

Also it cast much doubt upon the ministry of these individuals that believe God was not able to keep his Word. How can one prove the doctrine of the Lord Jesus without a sure foundation? I want each one of the men that believe the King James version has been changed to list each verse that has been changed. Also please state that God himself has spoken to him confirming these changes.

Furthermore these men should state to all pastors they believe no perfect record of God's word exist today. If they are going to preach from the pulpit of others and ask them to attend their conferences, they need to be honest and up front.

I believe that if a man has the nerve to state that changes have been made that he should be specific. God is specific and precise when he speaks. These men want to make this type of statement in a broad general way. They give no proof or specific verses of what God has told them personally, IN THE WORD, man has changed.

While these men state they believe the word not to be pure and true, they still have the nerve to believe that we will believe what they write based upon what scripture they use from the word. I have noticed that some of these men are not careful about jumping to false conclusions when judging others and they wrest the scriptures frequently.

God has never told me that the KJV was not pure and that it has been changed. I would like for Brother Reckart and his Messianic Apostolic Fellowship to be specific about the verses that are untrue and that have been changed. I will gladly post the verses here at my site for all to see.

Brother, has Acts 2:38 been changed and if it has not, then why not?

I contend that God has all power and surely can keep his word. Evidently you do not have the faith to believe God is able. No doubt with statements like this it is apparent that you believe Satan has more power to change the word than the Lord Jesus has to keep it.

Concerning the Catholics changing the word, I must state they were very inconsistent and stupid if they tried. First they should have thrown out the book of Acts concerning baptism and the book of Colossians concerning the Godhead. Where does not the KJV line up with the Old Testament (and please be specific)? In fact, the Roman Catholics were not even smart enough to add the word "Trinity."

This is one topic I cannot over look. We know that God gave the word to all through the Prophets and the Apostles. We were grafted into Israel, making the Church one. Jesus Christ was first and is first but the Prophets and Apostles are part of the foundation and this is through the word. That foundation is sure and pure not defected in anyway.

The word of God is a living word. Every time a man reads the word, revelation is given through the Holy Ghost. No other book is a living book like the word of God. To say that the word has been defected is to say that man has power over the Holy Ghost, which is the Word. How can one change what he cannot see? What fools men are to think God is not able!

Satan planted doubt into the mind of Eve in the garden and still is planting doubt into the minds of men who think their wisdom is greater than God’s.

(1 Cor 1:26 KJV) For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called.

These men cannot believe God is able to keep his word because they do not walk by faith but by what power they feel man has over his own destiny.

When the ark fell into the hands of the Philistines, did God keep it? They were glad to get rid of it because of the curse that God placed upon them. Did the Philistines have power over the ark, or did God have power over the Philistines? The Catholics wanted to keep the Word from man because they knew of its power, but God would not allow them to keep it. It has been translated into all languages and has become a curse to the Catholics, proving that they do not measure up. They were not even smart enough to change the mention in Scripture that Peter had a wife.

The Word of God is not given into the hands of Satan or man to change it. All powers are ordained of God to serve his purpose. All powers were created by God and God is in control.

(Col 1:16 KJV) For by him were ALL THINGS CREATED, that are IN HEAVEN, and that are IN EARTH, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, OR POWERS: all things were CREATED BY HIM, and FOR HIM.

Satan was created by God and is subject to God’s will. God is not subject to the will of Satan. We are filled with the Holy Ghost which is the word and the word is sure. The word is spirit and life recorded in the Holy scriptures to give life unto others.

(John 14:26 KJV) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall TEACH YOU ALL THINGS, and BRING ALL THINGS TO YOUR REMEMBRANCE, whatsoever I HAVE SAID UNTO YOU.

We have record of what the Lord said unto the Apostles and the disciples. It was called to their remembrance and recorded for our benefit also. Jesus did not state his words unto man while he walked this earth, being unable to keep them. It was by the word being made flesh that God revealed himself unto all. Jesus’ sermons and teachings are vital unto man’s salvation. This is Kingdom Doctrine that has not been changed. The Sermon on the Mount, all of his miracles, the parables are facts that were spoken and done by Jesus.

The Word rings true today unto the ones that try and change his word.

(Acts 7:51 KJV) Ye STIFF-NECKED AND UNCIRCUMCISED in HEART AND EARS, ye do always RESIST THE HOLY GHOST: as your fathers did, so do ye.

They stand before us as Goliath, uncircumcised, running their mouth. They say, "God was not able to give us an accurate account of his teachings as he walked this earth." The rock, Jesus Christ the word, makes these men’s words and thoughts of none effect. In order to alter the word of God they would have to do it from the beginning unto the end. It is one woven work and as the coat of Jesus was not torn. God has kept his Word sealed to keep me warm and shelter me from the ignorance of these men. If you pull a thread in Revelation something in Genesis will pucker up.

God is so precise placing things in a cycle from himself unto us. The rising and the setting of the sun, the placement of the stars and the moon. The cycle of life and death, the blooming of the plants, and the many more wonders of God.

Man can only do what God allows and God’s Word is as sure as God himself. How dare the ungodly and uncircumcised of heart to try and cast doubt upon his precious Word. God’s Word corrects any changes that man may try and insert as it enfolds itself feeding upon itself. It is a fire enfolding and a brightness for all true saints to see. It is "line upon line, line upon line, precept upon precept, precept upon precept, here a little and there a little."  A blind man cannot follow it "line upon line" and therefore does not have the intelligence to add a simple plural meaning to a word. I have heard Matt. 28:19 was changed, but if God reveals the name through the other books, what has man changed? Absolutely nothing, dear ignorant brothers. They were not able nor did they have the power to do away with Acts 2:38.

It is impossible for God to change. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore, and this means the Word. Has God placed closure upon what has been written and the need for more revelation? Absolutely not! The same vision that Ezekiel saw, John saw. It all testifies and reveals Jesus Christ. Jesus came in the volume of the whole book, old and New Testament.

(Psa 40:7 KJV) Then said I, Lo, I come: in the VOLUME OF THE BOOK it is written of me.

The spirit of Christ or Holy Ghost that was in the saints of old foretold of the word being made flesh which was Jesus Christ.

(1 Pet 1:11 KJV) Searching what, or what manner of time the SPIRIT OF CHRIST WHICH WAS IN THEM DID SIGNIFY, WHEN IT TESTIFIED BEFOREHAND the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

These saints of old also had the testimony of Jesus Christ. The two witnesses that agree are the Old, and New Testament saints, THE WORD. They both are of Christ, in Christ, and through Christ and both were raised to life by the blood of Jesus. They both testify of the same Jesus, the Word that was, and is able to perform what God speaks.

The church was completed in the middle by the blood of Jesus Christ. If any man try to hurt the witness of the testimony of Jesus Christ, the living pure Word. These two have the power to call on Jesus and call down the fire, Holy Ghost, and turn to blood the water that the false prophets claim to be life. Daniel, Isaiah, Ezekiel and the other prophets of God did not have a different word. It all is "line upon line" and kept by the power of God and sealed unto that glorious day of our saviors return.

Was the testimony of David, Joel, and Elijah true? Was it spoken, sealed, and kept until it was made flesh? Are the words of Peter, Paul, and John of any less importance to us, the saints. God forbid, they have been just as precious in the eyes of God as the words that were spoken by the prophets of old. It is sad that the ones who believe God is unable to keep his word should have ever called themselves Apostolic.

Please do not follow a man who claims that King Jesus has not the power to keep his testimony sealed. His writings are just vain muck without a foundation built upon a word that he believes to be flawed. Therefore leaving him the luxury to twist and change the word as God speaks to him directly, but it is another Jesus and not Jesus the Messiah.

Many died in Jonestown because they accepted that God dealt directly with Mr. Jim Jones and the Word meant nothing. This is the type of doctrine that starts these types of events. You hold your pastors and elders to the word and if they have not holy scriptures to stand on. Then you get away from them as fast as you can. Mark these men for they weaken the faith and sow doubt of discord although they do it with the good intentions of men. The carnal mind always claims to have your best interest at heart.

Jesus told us to search the scriptures. Why do this if he could not keep them? (John 5:39 KJV) SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and THEY ARE THEY which TESTIFY OF ME. God himself said these precious words and dear Brothers of faith, my precious Savior is able. Both the New Testament and the Old Testament testify of Jesus. What precious and holy scriptures they are.

A dear Brother, Michael Blume, was attacked by the Brothers on the Apostolic Forum for his faith that God was able to keep his Word pure. I take it that these men on this forum believe man has more power to change God’s word than God has to keep it.

I love Brother Joe Gaut, but am truly disappointed in what I consider his lack of faith in this area. When he posted this, he left himself open to rebuke from the word.

It is through preaching that God is pleased to save souls. Paul told Timothy to study the word making himself worthy to speak it. I dare say most of these men came through hearing the word and studying it, and now they say it is flawed because man has the power to change God’s ways.

Brother Reckart uses Brother Joe Gaut’s writing to try and prove his belief. Brothers in Christ Jesus, this same Brother Reckart led me to believe in Dexter Missouri, at one of his conferences, that he took no stock in what Brother Gaut believed. How then can Brother Reckart use what Brother Gaut has written as gospel?

I myself am afraid to say that God is not able, and why do you use the KJV if you have a direct line to God? If I were you, I would not bother to use the KJV at all, if it has been changed. Brother Reckart please tell us also what version of the word that you and the Messianic Fellowship recommend and which one is true.

If you brothers would, at this time please state exactly what has been changed and that God has personally told you this. Please do not use hearsay, we want to know what Jesus has told you directly in spoken word. Then please correct the KJV with the words God has told you to replace them with.

The testimony of the two witnesses stands strong full of eyes within and without. Full of the Holy Ghost with power of God to destroy the wisdom of man. The oil, HOLY GHOST flows from these olive trees into the bowl upon the candlestick, Jesus Christ, which keeps us within himself. A never ending cycle of Gods word to us and it returning again unto God. This is the word of God. The saints of the old testament and the new testament, the two anointed ones, standing on either side of the Lord Jesus. Jesus in the middle but both witnesses testifying of him. From Genesis to Revelation line upon line one word and testimony of Jesus Christ. All saints in him, by him, and through him until his final coming.

(Mat 5:18 KJV) For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, ONE JOT OR ONE TITLE SHALL IN NO WISE PASS FROM THE LAW, till all be fulfilled.

(Heb 4:12 KJV) For the WORD OF GOD is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
